Today, the number of young people going to the gym and working out regularly to stay fit has increased. While this is a positive trend, some mistakes made during enthusiastic workouts can be dangerous to their heart and overall health. Incidents involving celebrities collapsing and dying while working out have been reported recently.

Even those engaging in high-intensity workouts at the gym are at risk.

Many individuals push themselves to lift excessive weights and perform intense workouts without proper training beforehand. Exercising excessively can rapidly increase heart rate and blood pressure, leading to an increased risk of heart disease due to unnecessary stress on the heart.

    Stop when feeling numb.

Ignoring signs from the body during exercise, such as chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, and chest tightness, is a significant mistake. These symptoms indicate potential heart issues, and continuing to exercise despite them should be avoided. If feeling dizzy, it is crucial to stop immediately and rest.

    Poor posture.

Exercising with incorrect posture can damage the heart. Incorrectly bending the body while lifting weights or using improper lifting techniques can strain muscles and joints, potentially leading to injuries. Always try new exercises under the supervision of a trained instructor.

    Warm-up.

A proper warm-up prepares the body for intense exercise by increasing blood flow to the major muscle groups and raising body temperature. Jumping straight into a workout without warming up is also a mistake. Similarly, after exercising, the body needs time to cool down and recover, which is essential for heart health. Ignoring these steps can increase the risk of heart-related problems.

    Stay hydrated.

Maintaining proper hydration by drinking water during workouts is crucial. Failure to do so can lead to dehydration, which may increase the risk of heart strain and electrolyte imbalances.

    Excessive Cardio.

Overdoing cardio exercises for heart health can have adverse effects, including muscle fatigue, increased cortisol levels, and oxidative stress.

    Importance of rest.

Rest is a critical component of any exercise regimen as it allows the body to recover and repair. Insufficient rest can lead to fatigue, decreased performance, and even injury.

Share medical information with your trainer.

Neglecting to disclose medical conditions or withholding information from your trainer can be dangerous. Individuals with underlying health issues such as high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, or cardiac arrhythmias should take precautions before exercising. It’s essential to discuss these concerns thoroughly with the trainer before starting a workout regimen. Moreover, individuals with medical conditions should consult their doctor to determine a safe exercise plan. Beginners should start with shorter workouts and gradually progress to more strenuous exercises, always listening to their body’s signals.
