    Pathology is a precise diagnosis and study of diseases and the term pathology is derived from the Ancient Greek Pathos, which means suffering or feeling. Pathology addresses four components of diseases namely clinical manifestations, morphologic changes and pathogenesis. Pathology can be classified into different types like molecular pathology, plant pathology, psychopathology, veterinary pathology, forensic pathology, oral and maxillofacial pathology, hematopathology, dermatopathology, clinical pathology, anatomical pathology and general pathology.

    On the other hand, bacteriology is the study of bacteria and this subdivision of microbiology involves the characterization, classification and identification of bacterial species. Diploma in Pathology & Bacteriology includes both these specializations of medicine and this is a PG diploma course offered by only a single college in India.     Eligibility requirements:

    Like other PG diploma courses in Medicine, a diploma in Pathology & bacteriology also needs candidates to be MBBS degree holders with compulsory internship completion certificates.

    Future scope after Diploma in Pathology & Bacteriology:

    Candidates with this specialization can work either as pathologists or as bacteriologist in addition to working as Pathology & Bacteriology medical professionals. These professionals play a crucial role in the team of patient care and they work with doctors to treating patients and guiding care. These professionals can work in the development or laboratory information systems and they are being appointed by hospitals, health care centers, laboratories dealing with lab work in medicine and therefore, there is a good scope for this course.
